We did however get all the crops planted except Sunflowers and at least we’ll have a lot of grass for the cows😊 even planted some corn green into rye

Got to Love 50+mph winds, 4.5 inches+ of rain in 24 hrs, thankful for the rain but holy buckets the wind is brutal

Lots of windy days this week. Neighbor took prevent plant on quite a few acres last year. No cover crop, just sprayed the weeds. Worked it this spring and the soil is like talcum. Such a contrast to even the other conventional acres around it that at least had a crop last year.

That’s unfortunate but such a great reminder of what Not to do. Living roots and minimal disturbance are so beneficial 👍

Jumping into the wide row game with oats. Twin row 30” so far I started with full rate and dropped rate 10# each pass to find out a desirerable seeding rate. Just playing around with a few acres with no expectations just curious on test weight and other quality differences. Any ifeas or thoughts on what to look for or try?

You thinking planting beans between the rows and double croping?
-
Not here I don’t plan to. But we planted a spot like this on ( Taylor Sumption’s (Anthem Oats) field as well and plan to plant soybeans between those rows.
I’m trying to figure out the ideal planting rate. So if there is a stand that doesn’t look good after emergence I’ll swing in and plant corn on that area

Hey everyone!
Just curious if anyone would be able to share some plans or advice on building a compost extractor?
Would like to be able to extract large batches.
Thank you in advance.

Hello Hans, I am on the NE Soil Health Coalition Board. We are looking at options to work with our producers re: soil health benchmarking. Do you think that your MO contact would be interested in completing similar work in NE as they are beginning in SD?

Thank you,
Mike

Hi Mike,
I think that he may be interested in doing some benchmark soil collection in Nebraska. I think he may have already collected some samples from there already. I can give you his email address ages.kitchenn@gmail.com. His name is Newell Kitchen. I would just email him and ask if he is looking for some producers farms to sample…

Your windrows look like a uniform product. What might they look like to begin with?
